About the blog: Bad Cover Version is the non-academic, yet still analytical, pop culture blog of ethnomusicologist Elizabeth Keenan.

About me: I hold the PhD from Columbia University. I spend a lot of time teaching, running, researching my book, and sitting on the couch writing (though not necessarily this blog). I live with my awesome husband, Ryan Penagos, and our four insane cats, who usually try to distract me from writing.

I have been learning to follow your blog, though unfortunately I’m at the level of music education where you give a song a thumbs up on Pandora and it replies, ” ….. really? You liked that?”
